How to play Reaction Challenge

Reaction Challenge gives you a focused activity to play in your browser. Finish five valid responses. An early click does not count as a completed response; start that attempt again. Use the example below to understand a decision. Make your first input carefully and watch the result. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Try a deliberate move

After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again. Use the example to check your reasoning.

Your goal

Finish five valid responses. An early click does not count as a completed response; start that attempt again. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Check the rules when you are unsure.

Step by step

  1. Start a round and wait without clicking.
  2. When GO appears, click or tap the large target.
  3. Read your response time and start the next round.
  4. After five rounds, the game shows the mean time.

Controls

Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Use one clear input at a time.

A useful example

A valid 250 ms response counts. Clicking during WAIT is too early and must be repeated. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Verify the rule before continuing.

Watch out for this

Browser scheduling, screen refresh and input hardware can affect the measurement. It is not a medical test. Compare the situation with the worked example. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
